Most Common Problems & Solutions

• Mixer will not start / No power: Check power cord; ensure speed control is not stuck between speeds; reset by unplugging for 1 minute.
• Motor runs but beater doesn’t turn: Check planetary gear or worm gear; grease may be needed (food-grade).
• Excessive noise / Grinding sound: Worn gears or insufficient lubrication; common on older heavy-use models.
• Bowl not locking / Slipping: Check bowl support clips and adjustment screws; realign bowl.
• Speed control not working properly: Clean speed lever mechanism; replace phase control board if needed.
• Overheating / Shuts off: Allow mixer to cool for 15–30 minutes; reduce load (do not exceed recommended capacity).

Artisan & Tilt-Head Models

• Head tilts or wobbles: Tighten hinge pin and adjustment screw under the head.
• Attachments hit bowl sides: Adjust beater-to-bowl clearance (should be 1/4 inch gap).

Professional / Bowl-Lift Models

• Bowl lift not raising properly: Lubricate lift mechanism; check for worn lift handles.
• Heavy dough not mixing well: Use dough hook on Speed 2 only; never exceed Speed 2 for kneading.

Safety note: Always unplug the mixer before attaching or removing accessories. Never put hands inside the bowl while the mixer is plugged in. Use only genuine KitchenAid attachments.
